Essay Examples - Virginia Colony in a Specific Type of Essay

Essay Examples - Virginia Colony in a Specific Type of EssayIn this essay I will look at essay samples in Virginia Colony in a specific type of essay. This is in response to my question 'what was the nature of the life that was lived in Virginias colonial times?' I use this example to encourage students to explore their creativity as writers. The thesis statement is used by the professor in a composition class, but here it is used by the student to write about something they read. This allows for more freedom and originality. Students can select a specific author to focus on. This essay will focus on Roger Williams. When we are writing a history essay, it is good to use the time to do some research and learn about the life of Roger Williams in Virginia Colony in a noble domain called Plymouth. Researching on a particular person is necessary, especially when they were in the Colonial times. Their life serves as an inspiration for students to follow. It is a good opportunity to make the students understand why they should write about certain things they read. When reading Roger Williams' 'Pilgrim's Progress' one will notice similarities with the lives of the English commoners who lived in a royal domain in England called Plymouth. There were several people who were slave owners in the colony and were in authority positions. It is important for students to understand the people in those times in order to understand how a man like Roger Williams grew up.He was born in a free soil. His father was a very wealthy plantation owner, and he was the head of his family. His mother was a school teacher who taught him to write well and also made sure he learned the most important lesson of all, that someone had to work to make sure everyone had a home to live in.His time in England taught him that working and providing for your family was the most important thing. He was sent to Plymouth, where he met a young woman named Margaret, whom he married. It was a happy marriage and he was rewarded for it by being named Viscount of New Plantation. This position allowed him to rule over his people as he pleased. All his life he lived in a peaceful and regal domain. He built a library, for this reason he is known as the Father of Science. He took many other men and women out of slavery in England and taught them to read and write. He always made sure that they were educated and this is a true example of how a scholar should behave. This exercise of writing a history writing paper about the life of Roger Williams helps students to be creative and to examine the important lessons of their lives. They will benefit from this exercise and will have a better understanding of themselves as writers.
